laughterinoddplaces started of as an idea, now it's definitely a thing
laughterinoddplaces is a pretty special comedy gig that takes place in a different place every (ish) month.
So far we've been in a record shop, a cafe, a library, a charity shop, a heath, a museum and a gallery.
It's run by Terry Saunders and Tom Searle who both got a little sick of shitty comedy gigs in shitty rooms above shitty pubs with shitty drunks being shitty.
After hearing of cool types in New York doing music gigs in launderettes (or in their case, laun-dro-mats (they are crazy)) Terry decided to ask the in the local launderette but he got too scared and never went in. Then in Edinburgh 2006 Tom & Terry met and decided to do this crazy laughterinoddplaces thing. Tom is better at asking people things, so he asked in the laundrette - they said no.
But then, in October 2006 laughterinoddplaces was born in a library in Camberwell, it was stressful, a woman shouted a bit and the tea ran out too quick. But everyone was happy, so they carried on... |
